Portraits

This portrait collection came together as a quiet devotion to the creatives of the world. We all carry the instinct to make, imagine, nurture, or share something of ourselves, and most of us can trace parts of who we are back to someone who once inspired us. These portraits are for those people: the friend who shared their dreams with you late at night, the gardener you grew up with, the busker in a new city, the person who made something beautiful simply because they felt called to. They are small acknowledgments of the people who shape how we see the world—those who, in Arthur O’Shaughnessy’s Ode, are called “the music makers” and “the dreamers of dreams.”

Still Life and dreamscapes

These still lifes and dreamscapes came together as an exploration of the passage of time, drawing on traditional motifs and a considered hierarchy of colour. They explore the warmth, atmosphere and emotion that become attached to the moments we carry with us — the glow of late afternoon, the richness of a familiar object, the feeling of being somewhere that stays with you long after you have left.

Rather than seeking to depict a particular place literally, these works are an attempt to illustrate an experience. Through colour, texture and abstraction, they explore the way memory softens and transforms what we have seen, creating spaces that feel less like a record of somewhere and more like a recollection of how it felt to be there.
